Steve-O announces three new crew members from the set of Jackass 4, which is supposed to be the final installment in the film franchise.
Steve-O has released a video announcing the new cast members for Jackass 4. The film is being directed by Jeff Tremaine, who also directed the previous Jackass films. The concepts of the crazy stunts come from the minds of Jason ‘Wee Man’ Acuña, Dave England, Spike Jonze, Johnny Knoxville, Preston Lacy, Bam Margera, Ehren McGhehey, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, and Jeff Tremaine. Celebrity guests will be playing themselves, including Post Malone, Shaquille O’Neal, and Tony Hawk.
A decade after the previous entry, the Jackass team gets back together for what is supposedly the final chapter of the franchise. Ryan Dunn will not be in the film due to the fact that he passed away in 2011 and Bam Margera was fired and issued a restraining order earlier this year. The film was delayed twice due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but now has a locked release date of October 22, 2021.
With the release date approaching, Steve-O has announced new cast members joining the team. The additions to the crew include Jasper Dolphin (founding member of hip-hop group Odd Future), Sean McInerney, a.k.a. Poopsies from the surfing show, WhoisJOB, and Zach Holmes, also known as Zackass, from Too Stupid to Die.
The Jackass franchise is one that has continued to do better at the box office with each movie. With each new release having a bigger budget, they have also proven to improve on both opening weekend performance, as well as lifetime gross. On a reported $20 million budget, Jackass 3D made $50 million on opening weekend and $117 million over its lifetime gross. It is a no-brainer that Paramount Pictures would have an interest in bringing the crew back together to shock viewers one more time.
Steve-O’s new video introduces an array of crazy things that he has been up to, but the biggest piece of news to come from it is the announcement of new cast members. There are a couple short clips to display some of the absurd stunts the new guys have performed in the past, which displays that they are a good fit alongside the returning cast. From the glimpses that can be seen of the set, it certainly appears that they are cutting no corners when it comes to this final installment, so expect what will likely be some of the most “out there” stunts yet. Jackass fans will have their next, and last, dose from the crew this upcoming Fall with Jackass 4.
